Affiliated to the BBAC are a number of Regional Clubs which organise local ballooning meets, social evenings with guest speakers and slides/videos, visits to manufacturers,
Air Traffic control centres, and
meteorological stations.
Once you have joined the BBAC, we recommend that you also join the nearest Regional club. This will bring you in touch with pilots and crews who are flying locally, and give you a chance to join their activity. You may be able to form a balloon-owning syndicate with other members.
The BBAC are members of the
Royal Aero Club and through them members of the
Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, or FAI, the World Air Sports Federation. The FAI has a
Ballooning Commission known as the CIA on which the BBAC represent the UK.
The BBAC is also a member of the The General Aviation Safety Council which is a Charity that works to improve flight safety in all forms of general aviation.
Non-Geographically Based Groups
The BBML is the official museum of the BBAC, run entirely by volunteers.
The Competitions Club's primary purpose is to organise and run competition events in the UK in order to find the best pilots to represent the country in World and European class championships.
BABO's members are all holders of a CAA-issued Air Operator's Certificate, which allows those holders to fly fare-paying passengers. BABO members all agree to abide by a strict code of conduct.
